Saying No....Because You Want to Take It Slow..

When we really like someone, we might want to do things differently, like take it slow, give time for some heat to build, really get to know them more, and then the sex will be that much better, right? It's okay, to say, "NO, I really think you are so hot, but I wanna take it slow!"

This week on the Sex Talk with the fabulous Jenoa Harlow!

Temples and Brothels: Same Sex Marriage, Monogamy and More.... with Eric Schneider

Last week I interviewed good friend and NYC's premier sex therapist to gay men, Eric Schneider. Here's some stuff we talked about:

Same Sex Marriage. Is same sex marriage normalizing an otherwise sexually explorative and expressive gay community?
-Alienation. How when we as a society create an ideal, such as monogamous marriage in this case, we effectively alienate everything else which does not fall into those narrow confines. This creates a lot of difficulty as people become more focused on maintaining an ideal, than actually keeping it real.
-Confusing Monogamy As Safety. It is second nature or intuitive in our culture to use monogamy as a source of safety. Eric reminds us that just because a couple deems themselves monogamous, does not actually make a safe environment. Rather honesty, openness, and trust create safety. And our false reliance on monogamy as an ideal actually perpetuates dishonesty and therefor perhaps creates a lack of safety.
We have a great discussion on monogamy and heterosexuality as conditioning, when in actuality there are many choices and options.
Pop on over to our blog at Temples and Brothels to find out what else will be in our upcoming documentary project.

BDSM Couple Discusses Their Trilogy...

J.R. Luxor, best selling author in Amazon's sexuality category, is the nom de plume of the binary star that is a husband and wife writing team living in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is currently a life coach and he is an author formerly involved in psychology and counseling teenage girls.

They share the character development, choosing what's in the heads of the male and female characters. They say their technique of using separate male and female voices for the characters, especially in their unspoken thoughts, produces a multi-dimensionality to the interactions and connections of the men and women in their writings.
Submissives Caught on Camera, by J.R. Luxor, follows the lives of four couples in the San Francisco Bay Area who practice BDSM in their sex lives, sometimes, to varying degrees, with each other. This is the third of a series, beginning with BDSM Romance, How One Man Recruited and Trained a Sub, and then Wearing His Collar, the View from Below. In Camera, the four couples decide to make a video of one of their events, their sex parties. Not every woman of the four has sex with men other than her partner. The couples have different arrangements for their sexual interactions with others.

The Pressure to Be in A Long Term Relationship is NOT GOOD!

LTR - Long Term Relationships
In our society, success is often based on being in a long term relationship, that lasts a life time. We put a lot of emphasis on building relationships and staying in them, even when the grow sour, or when we stop growing. We feel bad when relationships end. We often feel as though we failed in some way. Mou and Jenoa remind us that it is okay to say goodbye when something is over. It is okay, and in fact it may be good for you to walk away from something that no longer works for you. We can acknowledge what we learned from a relationship.

The Sex Talk is a weekly webisode that discusses sex, relationships, dating and more. with my co-host Jenoa Harlow. We encourage thinking in terms that are good for you, not for the larger society.

New York City

I've been in New York City one month and one week. The 2nd book is finally started!! I have been thinking about this book for two years, and wrote the article back in January on New Years Day. Boy, time flies. With all the clients I was seeing, and teaching at the University, I had no time at all to even take a gander at writing. So, now the beginnings have started, and yes the book will be ultimately seeking a home, aka a publisher, but we know it's a process. (We is Jenoa and I, she will be collaborating with me on the way. )

This book is about Casual Sex, Hook Up Culture, One Night Stands, Non Monogamous Sex. You get the picture!! Who couldn't use a guide book for all kinds of sex??

In the meantime, I have submerged myself in film making duties.  Lining up interviews in the New York area. Interviews should start in August.

I am still offering consulting and mentoring services, mostly via phone, and online. Hit me up if you want some tips!

I will also be posting some more videos and articles as well!!

Hope you had an amazing 4th! Enjoy your summer!!!
